Welcome to the Lawrence County Technology Career Center Have you thought about what you want to do with your future. The time to begin planning is now, that's where CTE comes in At the Lawrence County Technology Center, we want provide potential students with information about our career technical programs The LCTCC offers seven skills programs based program with many opportunities. The seven skills programs that we offer our agriculture and natural resources, business marketing and finance, Construction Health Care and Clinical Sciences Law and Public Safety, Metal Fabrication and Teacher Academy. All seven of those programs are offered to students in the 10th and 11th grade. For the students coming into the ninth grade, all of those programs are offered except Healthcare and Clinical Sciences and Teacher Academy. Every program we offer has a student organization in which students can become a member of. Some of those organizations are SkillsUSA, FCCLA Hosa, Educators Rising and National Technical Honor Society. We encourage all of our students to become a member of the student organizations. Within those organizations, students have the opportunity to compete within our state, regionally, and National competitions. hey my name is whatever it is and I have part of the technology and career center programs for 2 years I highly encourage all students to become a part of this program because it helps you choose and teaches you more about your career choice for an example deer in the hillside program you learned about all the different diseases and disorders of the body the muscles the bones and even medical terminology it is truly giving me a head start for my career I would like to thank mr. Charlotte for that in addition to all of these it gives you opportunities that others may not have if I were you I would take the opportunity now and I would apply for the technology and curious I promise you won't regret second year of the healthcare and clinical Sciences with Miss rashonda Alexander before I took this class I never thought I wanted to do anything in the Healthcare System but it is truly changed my life and my whole perspective on it and now I know that I want to have a career in the medical field I'm a member of the hustle team and I'm going to compete in state and hopefully Nationals this year and I truly enjoy it the bank's Mishra Shonda in this class I now know what I want to be I'm also a member of National Technical Honor Society I served as vice president and all of our skills. have the organization that students can become a member of hey my name is Sean McGee and I'm in the second year construction and this passage meant a lot to me I learned a lot of stuff I missed the battle and we had a lot of experiences in here and a lot of different things it's been over all fun and I would encourage a lot of people to take this past week play and make a lot of memories in high school I've been in construction for 2 years and I'm on my third year work-based learning I've learned many skills are taught me a lot throughout the years I've had a great time in here I've learned how to run each and every piece of Machinery in here did you know CTE programs partner 81% of high school say relevant Real World Learning opportunities like CTE for the tip them in school since 2009 Mississippi CTE students have graduated the right to vote is not taken a CTE program my name is Dylan I would like to hear y'all some things that I've learned in shock and through the Vo-Tech all we got two-year course and they have just added a third year this year I would love for everyone to be able to do a vote check class and then go through the third year we threw our own safety and all of our shops and is this something you're interested in I push it real hard. We make a lot of things in here that are cool like these right here or shot or set it set up whatever you think you can do will put you on it are you said we rely on safety why have gloves and we have safety glasses over there I do not have my safety glasses on for the video but in the shop but if we do safety first and then we build stuff lighter you won't do it to do more book work but also be in the shop in the book work is for I said safety you learning your safety part and then the next you come in here you learn you have fun career Maine towns are in the shop sometimes and work with other people sometime it might be learning how to work on your own and so several things we do look at in our classrooms are testing how you've done on state tests we look at safe amount of problems you have to pass a safety test I would rather ask since we're going to make sure we have students who want to come we can't teach you if you're not here we certainly recognize and students who come through our Career Tech program and who do well in our problems we have what's called National Technical Honor Society that's the highest organization in Career Tech this year we have 38 students who have qualified for membership into our National Technical Honor Society and we're so excited about into our National Technical Honor Society Career Center program we have is techmaster and more of our programs in a sequence for example Academy 1 and 2 or business 1 and 2 and so you have to be a certain ACT score and so forth my name is Summer island of the teacher Academy Warren and teacher Academy to have currently in work-based learning as a year 3 of teacher Academy teacher Academy is Dragon Prince on me giving me a lot of pointers of what I needed for the future teacher academy one there is more learning about the history of education and how it came to be today and it's just amazing how we went from parents teaching in the home till now online pretty much and I'm going to be maybe first one and teacher Academy is great for people who want to be teachers in one day gives you an early start on what you need to know for the future and I just really enjoyed your cat is JJ another course that we began teaching this year is work-based learning work by scarring is work for your texting that have enough to go work at a job or job site or maybe and it's high school credit for doing that some of these work experiences are on our students is a mixture of both but it Real World experience has completed metal fabrication the last two years then they went into an area and have that a word work experience in metal fabrication couple benefits of taking work based on which were basically calling you three of Career Tech we have to really do well with Career Tech they looking at going into a career that is a Career Technical type of field and so it has really been a benefit to those students career Readiness credit if you take work by snorting a substitute for the collagen career course that you have to take can work toward a career and technical diploma endorsement make a criteria as far as an endorsement to be able to get a Career Tech endorsement you have to have two of our sequence courses for example agriculture or Law & Public Safety 22 and then there's a few other criteria but along with that you couldn't complete high school with a Career Tech endorsement can prutech help me academically how can I help you your credit report for graduation also we do have some classes that count as required courses such as intro to ask science counts as a science take you both are crisis situation this is our agriculture of course I'm in my third year you can do three years you start off in class and then your second year you will go into a more shop experience and in my third year it is just as it's a work-based learning class will you learn a little bit more you get a little bit more chances to work and do a whole lot different type of thing than one of your school part of it this is something we've built in this class we've had it you might have seen it in our parade I have been an agricultural for ever since I was little and I still and I'm in heaven fight I'm an officer I got South State farmer just to me there's so many different academically things you can do while you're in school for the FFA and I would love for you guys to be a part of hi my name is Sawyer Griffith I want the large getting Hospital graduated in 2012 and Stan I'm currently RN benorian for a little over four years now or two a year straight out of college and MC in Jackson a level 1 Trauma Center in the cardiovascular ICU where we did anything from heart transplants to bypass surgeries in the last three years I've been working in in New Orleans at Ochsner science I see you and I'm currently working at the Veteran Affairs Hospital in their ICU which includes are covid-19 you but in school after I graduated from here at 10 and Allied Health course hero two years I want on to cuddle in where I got my prerequisites and then Advance the University of Southern Mississippi where I got my bachelor in science the way they really helped me I had no idea how to study before I came and I'll help mr. Shonda really taught us how to study for something more appropriately than you normally would and other courses it also provided a lot of leadership skills for HOSA A&P was a lie what does a lack of course which is anatomy and physiology that's a lot of what does salad help course teaches you and it helps so much from A&P 1 and 2 with your prerequisites in the nursing care it was really a breeze because I didn't trouble whatsoever I think I got to pee and I do you want hi being a MP to wear a little effort to help it really helps mold young people it gives us a good insight into into what the nursing career or just the healthcare industry is it a hole the program before you go to the hospital you Shadow everybody from dietary the nursing to CNAs it just really give you a good platform for a basis of of growing in and a real world of Nursing and healthcare industry have you thought about what you want to do with your future the time to begin planning is now that's where CTE comes in I have those questions at the beginning of this video and at the end it's never too early to begin planning for your future career technical education Empower students for college career & Beyond going to the CTE director dr. Jeff Quinn along the CTE administrative team and the CTE faculty and staff for their dedication to Career Technical education we're working to make a difference in the lives of our students please contact the Lawrence County Elgin career center if you need more information about Career Technical education
